Some expeditions have been with the Explorers Club, carrying its flag. Others have been independent — shaped by curiosity, a map, and the people willing to come along.
Flag Expeditions
In 2018, I joined the NORTH Expedition to the North Pole with my wife, our seven-year-old twins, and the Garriott family — an intergenerational expedition focused on science, education, and getting young people onto the Arctic ice. I also took part in Elysium Artists for the Arctic, documenting underwater and polar environments, and more recently Darwin 200, retracing Charles Darwin's voyage around the globe.
Independent Expeditions
Beyond the Club, curiosity has led to its own journeys: an exploratory dive trip to the Westfjords of Iceland, a year-long overland drive from Europe to Cape Town — including earning a pilot's licence in Zimbabwe along the way — and diving expeditions to places like Chuuk Lagoon. More underwater journeys are in the Underwater section.
